Governor Rick Snyder’s administration and state lawmakers will have some extra money to play with thanks to some leftover money from last fiscal year.
State economists on Thursday agreed on revenue estimates at their biannual conference.
They say combined tax collections for the state’s two main funds are up nearly $194 million, about $150 million below May estimates.
State Budget Director John Roberts also says the state’s looking at a $575 million budget surplus.
He says while budget priorities won’t be set until February, the money could be used to help address the Flint water crisis or toward roads.
Roberts says it also wouldn’t be a surprise to see some of that money put in the Rainy Day Fund.
Governor Snyder will use the numbers to shape his 2016-17 budget.
