Michigan’s state Christmas tree for 2014 will once again come from the Western Upper Peninsula. A 63-foot blue spruce owned by Bill and Helen Bjorkman of Kingsford has been selected to be displayed in front of the Capitol building in Lansing throughout the holiday season. This is the 20th time that the state tree has been selected from the U.P. Last year’s tree came from Iron River. The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget says the state’s 29th Christmas tree will be harvested on Thursday, October 30 and will be delivered to the state Capitol on Saturday, November 1.
