State Champion Hockey Team Congratulated By Hancock School Board

The March meeting of the Hancock Public Schools Board of Education got off to a positive start by congratulating the Bulldog’s boys hockey team, fresh off their Division 3 state championship.

Superintendent Monica Healy read an email that praised the team for their good behavior at the hotel. Healy said the email was just one of many.

JV hockey was later discussed with concerns over low participation for Hancock and Jeffers Healy said one idea that is being considered is combining the two JV programs into one team. If implemented, players called up to the varsity team would only go to their perspective schools.

In other business, the board named Dan Pertile Varsity Boys Track coach and voted to get started on possibly refunding the 2008 bonds.

Both school principals, Kipp Beaudoin of the Middle and High Schools and Dan Vaara of Barkell Elementary, received their evaluations and their contracts were renewed.

The performance of Superintendent Healy was also evaluated and was given an Effective rating by the board.

Her contract was also renewed.
