South Range Woman Charged With 3 Felonies In VFW Robbery

A South Range woman is now being charged with three felonies in connection with a robbery of the Range Lounge in South Range.

Anderson, Sasha 236-year-old Sasha Anderson had been charged with making a false report of felony—punishable by up to four years in prison, which was dismissed on Wednesday.

Appearing in 97th District Court by closed-circuit television from the Houghton County Jail, Anderson was again charged with the same crime, along with Embezzlement of a $1000 or more but less than $20,000, a 10 year felony, and Larceny of more than $1,000 but less than $20,000, a five year felony.

On the matter of bond, Prosecuting Attorney Michael Makinen said that Anderson is believed to be a substantial flight risk and that it is suspected that she has been in continuous contact with the other suspect in the robbery, 36-year-old Clinton Jarriel.

Range Lounge, South Range VFWMakinen said Jarriel may have returned to the South Range area after having fled to Georgia and that he allegedly contacted the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office about Anderson’s bond.

In Anderson’s statement to the court, she said Jarriel had contacted the house but she had no intention of leaving the area.

Anderson remains lodged in the Houghton County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.

She is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on February 12th.
