Snyder Testifies Before Congressional Hearing on Flint Water Crisis

Governor Rick Snyder testified during a contentious congressional hearing on the Flint water crisis Thursday.

Several Democratic members of the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform called for Snyder to resign for mismanaging the water issues in Flint.

But the governor held firm that he didn’t know about the high lead levels in Flint until October 2015 despite earlier emails from his staff showing concerns about water quality in city.

The governor also told the committee he wishes he would have reacted earlier to red flags about Flint water.

Meanwhile, Republican committee members called for the resignation of Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy, who also spoke.

She was asked why the agency didn’t immediately react to high lead levels in Flint.

She says the EPA didn’t know about the problem because it was getting confusing reports from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.

Former Flint Emergency Manager Darnell Early and EPA Midwest region administrator, Susan Hedman testified earlier this week.
