Michigan residents who use the health exchange established under the Affordable Care Act are still going to get their federal tax credits.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Thursday in a 6-to-3 decision the tax credits would stand for federally run exchanges.
Last year, over 184,000 Michiganders using the marketplace received over $13 million in rebates and as of March of this year, over 293,000 Michiganders were covered through the exchange.
Governor Rick Snyder says he’s glad the U.S. Supreme Court has resolved the issue of taxpayer subsidies in the Affordable Care Act.
Snyder says the state can now focus on securing the second waiver for the Healthy Michigan Plan, which has nearly 600,000 residents of all ages enrolled.
He says regardless of feelings on the Affordable Care Act, it’s vital to the state to continue working to improve and reform health care.
