Houghton city officials are reminding residents not to dump snow from their driveways into city streets or rights-of-way. It’s against the law… makes snow removal tougher and more dangerous for city crews… and could bring you a $50.00 fine. Houghton Police Lieutenant Nick Roberts admits we’re all frustrated by this tough winter… but says public safety remains the first priority. If you have run out of room on your property to put your snow, it’s your responsibility to hire a contractor to scoop it up, and haul it away.
