The way Spring has been creeping into the area may not be fun for residents, but Houghton City Manager Eric Waara says it is actually helping with the fight against pot holes.
The slow melting of snow and ice leads to less carnage, according to Waara, who is also acting as the city’s public works director until the position is filled.
The hot-patch machine that has been so useful in plugging pot holes broke down while working on Pewabic Street between Montezuma Avenue and Sheldon.
Waara said that stretch of road will remain closed for a day or two until the machine is back up and running, at which time they will once again continue to fill pot holes as they are discovered.
