“Sleeping” Houghton Residents Arrested in Esky

Two Houghton residents are facing charges after they were found sleeping in a car in the parking lot of the Escanaba Walmart.

Escanaba Public Safety officers were called out around 1:00 Monday morning to check on the welfare of the two, and an eight-month-old baby in the back seat.

Officers said they had to make several attempts to wake the adults. They have since been identified as 21-year-old Ashley Reilly, who was in the driver’s seat, and 33-year-old Ryan Timko, who was in the passenger seat.

A search of the car turned up around 40 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a scale, more than 90 small plastic baggies, and a glass smoking device.

Reilly was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and child neglect, and was held at the Delta County Jail. Timko was arrested on two outstanding warrants out of Houghton County. The eight month old baby in the back seat was turned over to Delta County Child Protective Services.
