A Michigan lawmaker says medical marijuana businesses should be allowed to put their money into banks and other financial institutions.
State Senator Coleman Young II says medical marijuana facilities are legitimate businesses and should have a place to invest their money.
Medical marijuana is legal in Michigan, however, the sale of pot remains a federal crime.
Young says that’s why banks hesitate to take money from these businesses.
Young says he would also like to see police stop raiding medical marijuana facilities in Michigan and spend more time getting real criminals off the streets.
