Tornadoes are exceedingly rare in the Upper Peninsula, but one came close yesterday.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Marquette County just before 3:00pm.
A waterspout appeared over Lake Superior and reports said it had the possibility of moving onshore.
Eyewitness reports said the waterspout dissipated before it reached the shore.
The short-lived tornado warning was cancelled at 2:56 p.m.
