Ekdahl-McMahon PrelimsTwo women arrested for attempting to pass drugs to an inmate in the Houghton County Jail were sentenced at the Courthouse yesterday afternoon.  Both pled guilty last month to Attempted Delivery of a Controlled Substance, punishable by up to three and one-half years in prison.

Jamie Pauline Ekdahl, 29, of Calumet received 150 days in jail, with credit for 70 days served.  Sarah Jean McMahon, 35, of Laurium was sentenced for 68 days or time served.

Both women were also given 24 months probation.  The plea deal reached dropped other charges that could have added felonies with sentences of seven and five years.

Anderson, Sasha 3

In pretrial hearings, Sasha Anderson, 38 of South Range, accused of robbing the Range VFW, had her case set up for a two-day trial for a future date.

However, the cases for Michael Karppinen, Kevin Willis, and Anthony Brown were remanded back to District Court for a preliminary exam that was requested by defense council.  The trio previously waived the exam for the accusations from an UPSET investigation that discovered Heroin and Crack Cocaine at Karppinen’s residence.
