Senator Debbie Stabenow stopped in Houghton, MI on Wednesday. The Michigan Senator was checking on the progress that Michigan Technological University has made in the research and development of wood beams meant for tall building construction. Stabenow, who is a proud Michigander, says that the Timber Innovation Act that was included in the 2018 Farm Bill, will help the country to sustainably manage our forest lands. And the wooden beams could create a net negative carbon footprint with the construction of buildings using the developments here at MTU.
