The state senate resumes its work this morning and one of the big items on the agenda is legislation on the Detroit Public Schools.
State senators could take up the House legislation as is–or just parts of it.
The House plan would provide $500 million to help wipe out the district’s debt.
But a Senate plan calls for $715 million and includes a ‘new’ district with a Detroit Education Commission to oversee school openings and closings in Detroit.
