With the latest hot button issue across the nation being about domestic violence, a special seminar will be held this morning to educate law enforcement, legislators, healthcare professionals and many others. It is called “Understanding the Mind of the Batterer” and it will be presented by David Garvin, co-founder of the batterer’s program in Lower Michigan. Garvin will talk about what an effective batterer intervention program and how it can be used to improve safety within communities. Mary Niemela from the Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home says it is important to understand this perspective to help prevent more cases of domestic violence.
The event will take place at the Michigan Tech Advanced Technology Development Complex this morning from 8:30 until 4pm.
