Michigan’s annual Click It or Ticket seatbelt campaign begins today.
State Police along with local police and sheriff departments will be encouraging drivers and passengers to buckle up.
Authorities say there was a ten percent increase in the number of traffic deaths last year compared with 2014.
The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning says 93-percent of drivers use their seat belt and when seat belts are used properly, the risk of being killed in a crash is cut in half.
