Search Continues For Missing Boater

Authorities in Iron County are searching for a missing boater.

Deputies from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office say a 911 call was received Saturday shortly after 3:30 p.m. to report a boating incident on Hagerman Lake in Stambaugh Township.

The caller stated that a boat without a driver had crashed into a dock and that no one was around.

It is believed that the boat’s driver, a 56-year-old Iowa resident, was out fishing and fell into the water prior to the crash.

A thorough search was undertaken by deputies in conjunction with Iron County Search and Rescue and Michigan Department of Natural Resources officers, but the driver was not found.

The Delta County Dive Team was brought in to assist in the search.

Officials say recovery activity continues.

The identity of the missing boater is not being released at this time.
