SCOTUS Ruling on air Emissions Doesn’t Change Much for MI Utilities

A ruling by the U-S Supreme Court Monday won’t change the plans of two of Michigan’s largest utility companies to shut down old coal-fired power plants.

The ruling had to do with a mandate by the Environmental Protection Agency to reduce air emissions.

Despite a decision that sides with utilities, Consumers Energy and DTE Energy say they are still moving forward with closing nine coal-fired power plants by April 2016.
