Schuette to Protest Utility Increase Requests

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette is challenging requests for electric rate increases by two utility companies that serve the U.P. Wisconsin Public Service Corporation and Northern State Power have both asked recently to increase their electric rates. Schuette says that if the Michigan Public Service Commission approves the request, a typical residential customer’s monthly bill would increase by $25 per month, or about 28%. He also says if Northern State Power’s request is approved, a typical residential customer of theirs would see an 8% increase.
