Schools Being Ranked According To Veterans Support

Michigan veterans and their dependents now have some help in picking out the college in the state that best supports their academic needs.

The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency classifies colleges, universities and training schools throughout Michigan based on their programs centered around veterans.

The institutions can earn bronze-, silver- or gold-level status under the Veteran-Friendly School program.

With each level comes an increased commitment to supporting student veterans and their dependents on campus.

Veterans Affairs Agency Director Jeff Barnes says the program allows military service members and their families to quickly recognize Michigan schools committed to easing their transition into higher education.

A full list of academic institutions certified as veteran-friendly schools will be released in August.
