Houghton-Portage Township Schools will have to hold off on plans for certain renovations and facility upgrades.
Voters have rejected an $8.69 million bond proposal for the school district in Tuesday’s election.
The measure was narrowly defeated 50.52% to 49.48%, a difference of just slightly more than one percent.
In all, there were 670 votes cast and the proposal failed by seven votes.
Some of the funds would have been used for renovating athletic facilities, a new roof for the high school and upgrades to the school’s security system.
