With the heavy amounts of snow this season, UPPCO is reminding its customers to take precautions when shoveling and piling snow near reading meters. They say that plowing snow onto meters could damage them resulting in a loss of electricity. Also large snow piling should be avoided around overhead lines where children may play and climb onto the snow piles, bringing them close to dangerous overhead lines. UPPCO adds that if meters are covered with heavy snow, customers should clear them by hand without a shovel or other items.
