Saatio Escapes Transport While Being Brought Back To Houghton

ABC-3 WEART-TV is reporting that John Wesley Saatio has once again escaped custody.  The news station’s website says Saatio escaped from a transport van around 11pm Saturday night while at a rest stop on Eastbound I-10 in Florida.

Saatio was being returned to Houghton County to face original charges of home invasion and destruction of police property, along with likely additional charges relating to his first escape while being transported back to the Houghton County Jail in June 2015.  Saatio is also a registered sex offender.

He had been captured in Costa Rico in June of this year before escaping a detention center in that country and captured again shortly after.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department is awaiting confirmation on the report.
