Almost a year to the day he escaped custody, John Wesley Saatio has been captured.
Saatio was arrested in Costa Rica last week. The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office and Houghton County Prosecutor Michael Makinen are working with the FBI, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Costa Rican government to have him deported back to Houghton.
Saatio, who was an inmate at the Houghton County Jail, escaped custody on June 19, 2015. According to Houghton County Sheriff Brian McLean, there is no timetable set on Saatio’s return to America.
