Governor Rick Snyder says progress is being made in talks with legislative leaders toward a road funding solution.
While Snyder won’t release any details on the talks, he is hopeful the House and Senate leadership will have a plan to present to members soon.
He says a set of common sense set of solutions being discussed is the reason behind his optimism.
The current discussion involves taking $400 million from the general fund and gaining another $800 million from a series of taxes and fees for roads.
House Speaker Kevin Cotter won’t discuss details of that proposal either, but is hopeful a plan can be worked out this month.
Governor Snyder has been pushing for several years to dedicate $1.2 billion to infrastructure improvements annually.
