The first session day in weeks for lawmakers in the Michigan House yielded little visible progress on finding a road funding fix.
The question now is, will today be any different? Lawmakers spent most of Tuesday behind closed doors talking about road funding.
A spokesperson for the House Republicans says the meeting went well and that they made some progress but wouldn’t say if enough progress was made for any floor votes to happen today.
A special roads committee was due to meet this morning too but the hearing has been cancelled.
The Michigan House Democrats have rolled out a $1.2 billion road funding plan.
The Senate plan includes a 15 cent gas tax increase.
The Democrats plan does not, however it does include a corporate income tax increase and tougher restrictions on big, heavy trucks.
The Speaker of the House questions the timing of the announcement as his caucus closes in a final road funding fix.
