Prop 1 may have failed but road maintenance continues in the Copper Country with two additional projects set to get underway.
The first involves the resurfacing of M-26 in Houghton and Ontonagon Counties beginning today.
The Michigan Department of Transportation will resurface 20.8 miles of M-26 from US-45 north to Twin Lakes Road in Ontonagon and Houghton counties using a chip seal.
Starting May 11th, MDOT will resurface 23.8 miles of M-28 from Tula to Bergland, from Ewen to Bruce Crossing, and from Sidnaw to the Houghton County line.
Both projects include gravel shoulders; concrete curb, gutter, sidewalk and ramps; and pavement marking.
They will begin with concrete work and continue with the chip seal.
Motorists in these locations will experience single-lane closures with flag control and a traffic shift.
MDOT says work on both projects should be completed by the end of July.
