Retail Sales Strongest In Nearly A Year

Overall retails sales in Michigan remained strong in May for a fourth consecutive month, according to the Michigan Retail Index.

78% of reporting retailers said May sales were better than or as good as a year ago, the strongest showing since July 2015.

The May Index found 54% of Michigan retailers increased sales over the same month last year, while 22% recorded declines and 24% reported no change.
