Michigan Republicans are asking television stations to pull a new ad from the Democratic Governors Association that insists Governor Rick Snyder cut $1 billion from K-12 schools. During a conference call yesterday arranged by the Michigan Republican Party, state Representative Pete Lund called the claim “an outright lie.” And Governor Snyder has countered that he has signed into law considerable new funding to aid the teacher retirement system, money that if the state had not spent would have required school districts to cover from their per pupil funding. The Snyder campaign says its legal counsel is drafting a letter that will ask TV stations to take down the DGA ad and call out Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer for standing behind it.
