A 79-year-old man from Republic is safe at home after he went missing yesterday morning. State Troopers from the Negaunee Post responded to a missing person report from the residence of Benjamin Suomi around 11 a.m. yesterday and were told by his wife that he had left a few hours before in his 1999 Ford Explorer. She also mentioned that he is suffering from the onset of dementia and did not have any identification or his cellphone. As troopers were sending out an area broadcast to local law enforcement agencies, Suomi was located by a passerby at 4:30 p.m. Suomi was standing outside his car on an unplowed section of the road and his car got stuck and he got a flat tire. He was found to be in good health and was transported back to his home.
