Michigan is a leader in clean energy jobs in the Midwest with more than 87,000 people working in the sector, according to a new report.
The Clean Jobs Midwest report, which compares Michigan to 11 other states, shows Michigan leads the Midwest region in clean energy vehicle jobs and is second in renewable energy jobs.
Liesl Clark of the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council says the report shows the critical role clean energy jobs play in the state’s economy and that extending Michigan’s renewable energy and energy efficiency standards could further drive growth and investment in the sector.
The report is based on U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data and a survey of businesses across the state.
