Report Says Blame For Flint Water Crisis Should Be Spread Around

A new task force report on Flint’s lead contaminated water says government failure, intransigence, unpreparedness, delay, inaction and environmental injustice led to the city’s water crisis.

And the report recommends the state’s emergency manager law be looked at because the law removed necessary checks and balances that contributed to the lead tainted water problem.

The 116 page report was released in Flint Wednesday.

The report pins much of the blame on the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.

But also singles out the governor’s office and the state Department of Health and Human Services.

Moving forward, the report calls for the creation of a Flint Toxic Exposure Registry which would include people in Flint – both kids and adults – who have been exposed to lead contaminated water since 2014.
