Repeal of Outdated Laws Heads to Senate

Legislation to repeal a number of the state’s outdated laws is headed to the full Senate.

State Representative Chris Afendoulis is sponsoring the repeal of these so-called blue laws. He says these are common sense reforms to eliminate obsolete statutes.

The laws being erased by these bills concern things like swearing in front of women and children, dueling and how to perform the “Star Spangled Banner” in public.

Afendoulis says the bill package is the result of the House Criminal Law workgroup to repeal the state’s unnecessary and outdated statuettes.

The legislation recently cleared a Senate committee.
