Recap of Houghton City Council Meeting

What if the Portage Lake Lift Bridge suddenly stopped working? That was one of the main topics dicussed at last night’s Houghton City Council meeting. The council approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the city of Houghton and Houghton County which City Manager Eric Waara says outlines the obligations for the city. The council also approved the designation of Waara as the Michigan State Housing Development Authority Grant Certifying Officer. Also, a resolution to add a few roads to the city’s map was voted in support.
