The package passed Thursday by the state House, designed to fix the financial problems in Detroit Public Schools, is being blasted by teachers.
Interim President of the Detroit Federation of Teachers Ivy Bailey calls the bills “mostly despicable.”

The $500 million plan includes a 33-million dollar loan to help transition to a new district, which is far below the $200 million Governor Rick Snyder proposed.
The Detroit Public School debt would be forgiven under the package.
Representative Earl Poleski is a Republican from Jackson–
The GOP-led plan would prohibit the transfer of existing collective bargaining agreements to a newly created debt-free district.
The package may not be looked at by the Michigan Senate until next week.
