The Michigan Senate Education Committee is scheduled to hear testimony on legislation that would repeal Common Core Standards in Michigan and replace them with the Pre-Common Core Massachusetts Standards.
Senator Patrick Colbeck says since adopting the standards in 2010 reading and math scores have declined.
The Republican from Canton says pre-Common Core Massachusetts Standards were ranked number one in the nation based on student performance.
Members of the Education Committee will also hear testimony on current policies for addressing failing schools.
