Pure Michigan Television Ad Campaign Begins

Michigan‘s spring tourism advertising campaign has been launched on national network and cable TV.

The Pure Michigan Campaign national ad budget is $12 million dollars this year, including $2 million contributed by four partners: Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Great Lakes Bay Region, and Traverse City.

David West, Vice President of Travel Michigan, says its part of their effort to “inspire potential visitors from around the country to add Michigan to their must-see vacation destinations.”

West recently told legislators in Lansing that the advertising is essential to Michigan tourism, noting that recently in Pennsylvania, they significantly reduced their spending, and “they went from fifth in the nation in visitation, now they’re down to tenth,” adding that “when you stop advertising, people stop coming.”

Ads are appearing on ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today Show, along with several specialty cable channels.
