Progress MI Launches Website to Show Who’s Contributing to State Lawmakers

A liberal advocacy group has announced a new website designed to show where Michigan lawmakers are getting their campaign money from.

The new website from Progress Michigan uses campaign contribution information to show who is giving money to state lawmakers, the committees those lawmakers sit on and their voting records, leaving it to citizens to decide whether there is any correlation.

This comes after last week’s report from the Center for Public Integrity and Global Integrity that awarded Michigan an “F” grade for ethics and transparency.

Progress Michigan executive director, Lonnie Scott, says the legislature has gotten away with shielding themselves from public scrutiny for too long and this campaign will shine some light on their actions and who is putting money into their campaign coffers.

The website is at sunshinesquad.progressmichigan.org.

It uses data from FollowTheMoney.org and voting records from the House and Senate journals.
