Problems continue with the private contractor hired by the state to provide food service at Michigan prisons. The Michigan Department of Corrections admits that an Aramark employee served inmates at the Saginaw Correctional Facility food that had been thrown in the trash. That employee has been fired. So has an employee who served cake that had been partially eaten by rodents to inmates at the Central Michigan Correctionay Facility in Gratiot County. Aramark has a history of such infractions, and recently paid a $200,000 penalty for failing to maintain standards.
