A man accused of open murder and first-degree home invasion appeared in Houghton County Circuit Court yesterday. 30-year-old Timothy Cadeau’s charges stem from a September 2013 incident at the Douglass House Apartments in Houghton. 84–year–old Geraldine Fouts was found murdered in her home. Today, Cadeau’s attorney David Gemignani asked for the pretrial hearing to be scheduled in 30 days and the request was granted. Details on the break–in, including Fouts’s cause of death, have not been released. Cadeau has undergone a series of competency exams and and the prosecution is still waiting for a report from a forensics center. If convicted, Cadeau faces a maximum life sentence for murder and 20 years for home invasion. His bond is set at $1 million.
