Today is the preliminary hearing for Nima Nassiri, the 34-year-old man who is accused of second degree murder for his alleged assault on his wife 27-year-old Sanaz Nezami, which lead to her death due to the injuries. The story has garnered some national attention from publications such as the Huffington Post and the New York Daily News. Nezami’s family in Iran was able to watch her last minutes using a laptop and a live feed from Marquette General Hospital. Also, the family allowed for most of Nezami’s major organs including her heart, lungs and liver to be donated. If convicted, Nassiri could face life in prison.
