Poultry Ban Lifted

Michigan’s agriculture department has lifted a statewide ban on poultry exhibitions at fairs and other events.

The state earlier banned the exhibitions as a precautionary measure in June 2015 in response to the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza outbreak happening across the U.S.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reports there have been no recent cases of the disease.

And they add that the threat of infection is low.

But they also warn that if the disease resurfaces, the ban could be reinstated.
