Portage Health Honored

Portage Health in Hancock has won a statewide award for its work to improve the rate of patients that receive breast cancer screenings. The hospital has received the 2014 Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Prevention Learning and Action Network. The hospital was also cited for its efficient use of electronic health care records in receiving the award. Nearly 200 Michigan health care providers have been honored with the award for their dedication to improving health care quality and patient safety. MPRO, a Farmington Hills-based nonprofit organization, presents the award each year. The award is based on work in several areas including reducing adverse drug events and improving clinical quality measures among acute care and critical access hospitals.
