Thanks to a successful spring gala, the Portage Health Foundation has $60,000 to give away. The gala raised $30,000, which has been matched by funds from the Foundation. The money will be split into four $15,000 grants – one each for an organization in Keweenaw, Houghton, Baraga, and Ontonagon Counties. Foundation Executive Director Kevin Store says they’re looking for projects that will highlight new or expanded programs that promote healthy physical activity of youth and families; outdoor recreation; and community collaboration. If your organization would like to apply, you’ll find an application on the Portage Health Foundation’s website, or you can pick one up at their office in Hancock. Completed applications are due by July 10th.
