Extra officers are patrolling Michigan’s roads to make sure drivers buckle up and drive sober this Labor Day weekend.
Officers from 163 agencies are participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning director, Michael Prince, says officers will be looking for drunken drivers and unbuckled motorists.
He says, over the Labor Day holiday last year, five of the six fatal crashes involved alcohol. One driver, who was killed, was not wearing a seat belt.
The stepped up enforcement period runs through Monday.
