Law enforcement officers in parts of the Upper Peninsula targeted drunken snowmobiling over the weekend. Officers from the Schoolcraft and Luce County Sheriff’s Department, the Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement division and Michigan State Police from the St. Ignace post concentrated on snowmobilers on trails in the Shingleton and Seney areas on Saturday. Officers stopped 46 snowmobilers, gave 35 verbal warnings, issued 9 tickets and arrested two people for Operating While Intoxicated on a Snowmobile. During the eight hour operation, no injuries or crashes were reported.
