A 33-year-old Calumet man is facing multiple charges after an apparent breaking and entering leads to a police chase.
About 5:00 p.m. Thursday, troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post were dispatched to a residence on Bootjack Road in Torch Lake Township.
Police say a neighbor saw a white male breaking into a house. The suspect then left the residence in a Ford Escape.
A trooper responding to the scene saw the suspect’s vehicle heading northbound on Bootjack Road near Sawmill Road.
Police tried to pull the suspect over but instead he fled and a chase began that went on for ten miles along Traprock Valley Road through Copper City then north on US-41 and finally onto 5 Mile Point Road.
The suspect then turned onto Gratiot River Road and continued for about two miles before getting stuck in the snow.
Police say the suspect would not cooperate and officers had to remove him from the vehicle.
The suspect was arrested and lodged in the Houghton County Jail.
He is facing a fleeing and eluding charge with more charges pending.
His name will be released after his arraignment in 97th District Court in Houghton County.
