Pipe Flushing Will Hopefully Help Flint Residents

A water pipe flushing program that begins in Flint May 1sr has been set up in hopes of expediting the city’s recovery from the water crisis.

The Environmental Protection Agency along with the city and Michigan Department of Environmental Quality announced the idea over the weekend.

Residents are asked to turn on the cold water in their bathtubs for five minutes and then remove filters and run cold water in their kitchen sink for another five minutes.

The water flushing will take place for 14 straight days.

An expert working with the city of Flint has said running water through the pipes is key to removing lead from the water and re-coating pipes.
