A physical therapist at Portage Health has received a special distinction for her work at the hospital. Katie Temple has been announced as Portage Health’s 2014 Mercy Award recipient in recognition of her commitment to patient care and the community. In addition to her role at Portage Health, Katie is a volunteer assistant hockey coach for the local Keweenaw Storm girls’ youth hockey team. Katie is also a volunteer for many of Portage Health’s community events. The Mercy Award is given annually in honor of Scott L. Mercy, founding Chief Executive Officer of LifePoint Hospitals. This award recognizes individuals who consistently go beyond the call of duty in serving their patients and the community.
