Phone Scam Imitating Aspirus Keweenaw

A new phone scam is targeting residents in the area.

The Michigan State Police say a Calumet resident received a phone call from a number listed as Aspirus Keweenaw.

The caller stated that the resident had been selected to have their debt forgiven.

The called informed the resident about always paying on time and being in good standing with the credit company and wanted to speak with the person who paid the bills.

The subject requested a credit card number so they could forgive the debt and for the person to press a number on their phone to obtain incentive loans or make payments.

No information was provided to the caller and the call was ended.

Aspirus Keweenaw was contacted by the State Police and they advised the originator of this phone call is not affiliated with the hospital and to not give any personal information over the phone.

Any questions for Aspirus Keweenaw can be directed to Kelly Fosness, Media Relations at 337-6516.

If anyone receives a call similar to this, do not give your information and report it to your local law enforcement agency.

The number to the Michigan State Police, Calumet Post is (906) 337-4145.
